책 소개
Although many students approach an environmental economics class with enthusiasm, some find that seeing things solely through a classical microeconomic lens doesn't capture the whole picture. Harris and Roach, both with the Global Development and Environment Institute at Tufts University, present the subject through the lens of ecological economics, an approach that offers a more natural way at looking at things like climate change or global water cycles. They start with a comprehensive look at both theories before applying them to a range of issues, from the environmental impacts of agricultural systems to the effects of trade and development. This new edition features additional chapters on water economics and the effects of environmental protection on the economy, as well as more instruction on the use of economic valuation techniques. The latest data is also presented concerning population, projected food supplies, prices of minerals, and fossil-fuel subsidies. Each chapter closes with key concepts and discussion questions and a useful 22 page glossary concludes the book. Annotation ⓒ2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
