This report explores how rapid data centre growth in ASEAN could impact power sector emissions and highlights the need for faster industry decarbonisation. As data centres expand across the region, their rising electricity demand risks outpacing energy transition progress, underscoring the urgency of stronger and more accessible policy support, accelerated solar and wind as well as energy efficiency to ensure the sector’s sustainable growth in alignment with ASEAN’s energy transition agenda.
